Exploring Interactive and Immersive Projections
Abstract
In the past few days, a great revolution is seen in the field of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) especially due to the Covid 19 outbreak when people are trapped inside their homes and all the activities from working, teaching to meeting people are handled online by individuals. Due to this people have started doing a lot of interaction with the virtual world and started normalizing this virtual connection and developed trust over time. Based on a similar idea many big companies Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, etc. have committed to developing their ideas towards Metaverse and want to come up with various natural ways of interacting with the Virtual world to make a better experience. These interactions do not need any learning curve by the people and can easily be integrated with the regular methods of using the product. Considering these ways of interaction also known as Natural Human-Computer Interaction (NHCI) the thesis tries to explore various ways of interaction by creating different artworks hence creating various experiences for the people to explore. To make the experience immersive for people the thesis specifically uses Spatial Augmented Reality which is now known as Projection Mapping technology to create a better immersive environment.

INTERACTION
IMMERSIVE
Its a way of communication with objects, which deals with many things in terms method of interaction with the object.
Providing information or stimulation for several senses. We can also define this as seeming to surround the audience, player, etc. so that they feel completely involved in something.
LEVELS OF IMMERSIVE
Its a way of communication with objects, which deals with many things in terms method of interaction with the object.
Considering a simple example of movies, we can understand the immersive level that a user can feel just by comparing the experience of watching movies on a Mobile Phone, T.V screen, 2D screen theaters, 3D screens theaters, Dome Theaters, on a VR Head Mount Display (HMD).

IMMERSIVITY
INVOLVEMENT
Use Projection Mapping as a tool which was also known as Spatial augmented reality
Types INTERACTION
The real-time Interaction between any projection falls under Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
Later in 1990s a new category was proposed in HCI i.e., Natural Human-Computer Interaction (NHCI) where cognitive science, communication, visual art and creativity are all part of NHCI as a way to bridge the gap between humans and computerized systems.

“Machine Hallucination” by Refik Anadol (Top Right )

These projects are completely based on the visual which is created on the data that is collected by the artist over time.

“Connected Worlds” interactive ecosystem which works on gesture. (Bottom Right)

These projects made me inspire to create different interactions with the various methods of interaction.

Explorations
01
See yourself in the virtual mirror and get lost in the infinity space of virtual mirror

02
Create a breeze to feel the autumn leaves and flowers flowing away

03
Join the Symphony & make them Dance
A visual representation of music that interacts with audience contribution.

04
Creating an opening in a rigid wall to sneak what's behind it.

05
Control the cube and make a shape
Deconstruct the pixel of the cube into an abstract form

06
The classic Romeo & Juliet performed by different flowers
