Brief
The brief here is to understand different age groups and their behavior of people and try to provide them with the kind of news that they want to read so that they are up-to-date with what's happening around them
Problem Statement
How might we make the news reading experience better for users especially those from the age group of 14 - 20 yrs on every topic of news across the globe from your Local city to Global?
Design Process
I initially wanted to know what are the different ways in which people commonly consume news and the age group of people who use it.
This made me understand the age group that will use the app is 18 - 34 and 35 - 44.
But I feel in the current scenario teenage in the age group of 14-18 are also using phones and they also could be potential users of the app. Based on this I have created the following user persona.
Market Analysis
I went ahead to understand the news app which already exists and are very commonly used
Google News
The app showcases a range of news depending on the AI system of your searches and interests, hence providing a piece of news that is very relevant to the user.
But it takes time to go through the entire news as it shows the whole coverage once you expand.
Inshots News
The best thing about this app is that users can quickly scan through 60 words of an article to read the news
But only showcases one news at a time on the entire screen and the user needs to scroll to read different news.
Design Ideations
Considering the User and the Market apps these are the few things that could be improved and considered while creating the app
User needs to know about the news briefly before reading the entire coverage
User needs to have flexibility to go from regional news to global news
User needs to know about the category of news that it belongs to before reading the entire report
Users do not read all the news regularly, hence they also like to read the back trail of the news that happened in the past
For the Users who wants to know about the news on the go a short clips that can help them informed about the news

Personalize the feed by color coding which could be seen in the report.

By liking any news this creates a collection of reports that you like to understand the kind of news that you like to see and also give better results.
Mark
This is like a bookmark that will attach you to the story and whenever there is anything related to that story the user will be notified about it.
Share
This can share the report to different people as a clickable link so that your friends can read the news.
Trails
This will open the trails of the news report and can show you what had happened in the past about the same news.

Understanding the icons and the function that they do.

Categorizing this helps users to focus on the kinds of news they want and this also develops a habit for them to read and know whats going around in the world.
Go through short news quickly as stories
We leave in a time where there are so many things going on around us. Considering young users do not want to go through all the news in detail. They just want to quickly glance through the news and only read the one they are more interested to know about.
